The online course “LGK – Lean Fundamentals for Manufacturing” is designed for

employees and leaders in industrial environments (especially automotive and

automotive suppliers) who want to understand how Lean is applied in real

production. In 11 structured lessons, core principles, tools and daily

shopfloor practices are linked into one coherent production system.

Who this course is for

  • Operators working in production, assembly lines or machining.
  • Shift leaders, team leaders and line supervisors.
  • Production engineers, industrial engineers and Lean coordinators.
  • Managers and professionals in automotive OEMs and suppliers who need a common Lean language.

What you will learn

  • Explain in simple words what Lean is and what “value for the customer” means.
  • Recognise the 7+2 types of waste (Muda) in your own production area.
  • See the value stream from supplier to customer and understand Takt Time.
  • Apply 5S and visual management at workplaces in production and logistics.
  • Define and improve Standard Work for key workstations.
  • Use PDCA for structured problem solving.
  • Understand the logic of Flow, Pull and Kanban in manufacturing.
  • Interpret basic OEE figures and understand the role of TPM.
  • Organise simple, effective shopfloor meetings with clear KPIs.
  • Translate Lean concepts into concrete, small improvement projects in your plant.

Prerequisites

  • No prior theoretical Lean knowledge is required.
  • Practical experience in production, logistics or quality is helpful.
  • Basic technical understanding of production lines makes it easier to follow.

  • L01: What Lean is and what customer value means.
  • L02: Value and waste – the 7+2 types of Muda in manufacturing.
  • L03: Value stream, Takt Time and thinking in flows.
  • L04: 5S and visual management in production areas.
  • L05: Standard Work – stable processes and the role of operators.
  • L06: PDCA and structured problem solving.
  • L07: Flow Production & line balancing in lines and U-cells.
  • L08: Pull & Kanban – basic logic of material replenishment.
  • L09: OEE & TPM – equipment reliability and losses.
  • L10: Shopfloor Management & Lean KPIs.
  • L11: Summary, self-assessment and next steps / certification.

What you will be able to do after the course

  • Clearly describe core Lean principles to colleagues and management.
  • Identify the most important sources of waste in your own area.
  • Start small, focused Lean improvement projects on production lines.
  • Actively contribute in workshops, Gemba walks and shopfloor meetings.
